Camping

Slam! went the door as we lept out of the truck. The smell of fresh pine needles and clean air filled my nose. The day of our family camping trip had finally arrived and we were all amped to have a good time.

As we unloaded the tent and cooking kit me and my sister started to have a look around. The campsite was a small patch of grass surrounded in pine trees. A small river trickled along the outskirts of the camp and flowed off into the forest.

Once the tent was out of the tuck we started to put it up. I unpacked the poles and stuck them together to make the frame. We folded the fly over the poles and wala, our tent was compleet.

After our camp was set up we went exploring through the bush.  The wind blew pinecones from the trees and sent them tumbling to the ground. However me and my sister made a very fun game out of this.

Each time a pinecone fell we would both try to catch it.

We played this game for hours until one hit me in the head.

That night we made a little campfire and toasted marshmallows with small twigs that we found on the ground.

The fire sent little sparks flying into the air that looked like little fireflies.

It was the best camping trip ever.

My holiday

 Scotts Point Adventure

Vroom! Went the truck as we sped down the sandy beach. With fishing rods, bait and tackle box on board we were all set for the long drive to the end of 90 Mile Beach. The rough water crashed onto the salty shore sending a loud boom across the empty beach. An hour had passed since we had first started the drive, and finally the large jagged shape of Scotts Point had started to come into view.

Once we had arrived at our destination I leapt out of the truck onto the soft damp sand. The sun shone onto the clear ocean making it sparkle like a diamond. I looked around in wonder at the majestic cliffs and the sparkling ocean, this moment was too good to pass. Suddenly my peace was broken by our two crazy dogs rampaging around the beach. Their loud barks echoed around the walls of the towering cliffs. Once everybody was out of the truck we grabbed all the gear we could carry and started the walk to our fishing spot.

After a short walk over the barnacle covered rocks we made it to our spot. The waves washed in and out of the rockpools causing the seaweed to sway in the current.I got myself settled, stuck some bait onto my hook and cast my line far into the sea. After a while I started to get bored. Aimlessly staring at a rod waiting for a fish to grab my bait really drains my attention span, so I packed away my rod and went searching for something to do.

As I looked through the little pools of water I started to notice small fish darting in and out of the bull kelp which gave me an idea. I ran back over the rocks to grab the handline. I spent the rest of my day catching and releasing fish while all the adults stayed and fished.

As the sun set over the beach we all started to get tired. With no fish in the bag and empty stomachs we were all ready to go home. Even though we had no fish it was still a great adventure.

Pebbel

It's dark, the sun has not yet risen. A thick fog drifts around the silent cove. The tiny waves ripple onto the pebbled shore making a soft rumbling sound. The air is cool and fresh and the mist makes it hard to see. Suddenly a gray shadow appeared over the harizen. Dozens of armed ships emerge out of the fog like ghosts chugging for the shore. As they got closer I could see the terrified faces of the men inside. I heard the captain's voice readying the soldiers for something big. “Charge!” he yells as a burst of gunfire clatters down on the rocky shore. The sound of heavy boots crashing down on my friends makes my ears ring. Blood stains the beach from the many wounded and dying soldiers. The panicking men were sitting ducks down on the open beach just waiting for the rapid machine guns to mow them down. Just when I thought the carnage couldn't get worse an earth shattering Ka-BOOM ! shakes the cove followed by a blood curdling scream as an unfortunate soldier stepped on a Nazi landmine. His limp body flings high into the air then comes crashing down onto the stoney beach. I look away and dry reach at the horrible tragedy . Finally the heavy machine gun fire calms down and the remaining soldiers make their way up the steep gully into the bush. The stench of death wreaks through the now silent cove. Darkness closes in on the empty beach, as quick as they had come they had vanished even faster. Something a little pebble like me would never think to see in his life.

My weekly reflection.

What did I enjoy this week?
This week I enjoyed doing my recount. My favorite topic in school is writing so i loved it. I wrote about my holiday when we moved the cows on a stormy day.

What was one success I have had and why?
A success I have had this week was smashing through my contract. We had a lot to do this week and I got it done very quickly. My best piece of work I did from my contract was my scientist drawing. It took me a bit longer but it was very good.

 Something I found tricky?
Something I found tricky this week was my math x test. The questions were on another level of math that i had never done before.THey used words Like mean and consecutive. So my answer was just a big fat ?

What is one thing I have learned?
One thing I have learned this week is how to start in algebra. Before I started I had no idea what 4 x h ment but now i know that it is just a symbol and can mean anything you want it to.

What is something I am looking forward to next week?
Next week I am looking forward to finishing my creative myth and legend. Mine is called the snoziepoopies invent spaghetti. Once we have written them we will go and read them to the juniors.

How have I shown pono this week?
This week I have shown pono in imaginative prayer. On one of the tasks we had to say what we are truly thinking about. Pono means truth in maori so I was showing pono.

Imaginative prayer

This is my post on Imaginative prayer. It shows what Imaginative prayer Is and how to use it.
We did some types of it today and they were very fun.

On The Farm

Squelch went the mud, as my soggy gumboot sank into the brown muck. Only twenty one cows had made it up the slippery bank, and we had to get all thirty out of the flooded paddock. The heavy rain pounded my soaking wet overalls like a machine gun, as if it was trying to make me slip. As I slowly shimmied down the grassy slope, I could hear the distant moos of the last nine cows echoing through the gully. Suddenly, I misplaced my foot on a patch of long wet grass, sending me skidding down the rest of the hill. After staggering to my feet, I discovered a bush - not just any bush, a moving bush! Looking closer I realised that the strange plant was the hiding place of a mother deer and its fawn. The startled creatures took one quick glance at my muddy face, then went galloping up the slope like mountain goats. I sat staring in wonder at the majestic creature before, getting back to my task. The pouring rain made everything slippery and hard to see. I had to rely on the missing cows distant moos to find my way. Finally, I heard a loud crash coming from the thick scrub. I crept up to the edge of the tea tree and peeped through the spiky gorse bush and … there they were! The last nine cows - camping up under the shelter of the trees. I snuck round the back of the shivering herd, making noises to get them standing up. Once the group were all standing, I started to drive the large mammals up the muddy slippery bank. Loose rocks and debris from the struggling cows hooves tumbled down beside be. Further and further we walked, until finally the iron gate swinging in the rain was in sight. We gathered all our energy and made the final charge to the exit! As the final cow made its way through, and into the new paddock, I swung it shut with relief. Finally it was over! Off I went home for some hot milo.

matariki gods

This is my slide about the to maori gods of planting. We had to do 5 facts about each of them and without further adieu here they are.

matariki go setting

This is my matariki goal setting slide. For matariki we had to set a goal for every subject in school. Here they are.

My term

The biggest challenge. The biggest challenge was about the 2 maori gods responsible for fruit and veggies.
It was very hard to read the big words. Some of the big words were like rhizome and vegetative. Evan the google define couldn't pronounce them.

Something i have improved on. I have improved on my math. specifically my angels. I learned how to use a protractor
and measure more than one angle. We did a sheet on them for the first lesson. i only got half of them on the first lesson
but i got it in a few weeks.

The highlight of my term was coming back from lockdown and seeing all my friends again. i had been stuck with the same people
for 7 weeks it got a bit boring so coming back to school was a good change of scenery.

Something i have learned. I have learned how to use coordinates on a sheet. They were hard at first but i got them in the end.
My favorite was a game we had to do on them. There was a number coordinates of on the screen and you had to write there
position on the board in 20 seconds.

What am i looking ford to this holidays. I am looking forward to going down to Taranaki to see my uncle and auntie. They have a dairy farm so we get to milk all the cowes. It takes about 14 ours to drive down there but its worth it. We get to see every body.

Flame grilled chicken

This is my mythical creacher. It is called the flame grill chicken. It farts flames on its food which is usually worms to cook them. In the flame grilled chickens habitat there is know water only puddles of heineken. That is all they drink. They are mostly nocturnal and are very really seen in the day. There large eyes allow them to see extra well in the dark. There main predator is the wild ginger cat who uses the element of surprise. They have very big feet to dig there nests into the ground.
